Rochester, NY Police Officers respond to 149 Sherri Ann Lane in search of missing 3-year old boy.

A Rochester, NY Police investigator who endangered the life of his 3-year old son by driving drunk with the child, and then leaving the child in his home alone for more than two hours, has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation.

Rochester, NY Police Investugator Jeff McEntee got so shitfaced drunk at a Thanksgiving drinking party in Greece, NY, a suburb of Rochester, that he lost his 3-year old son.

Well, sort of.

Here’s the story:

According to Rochester, NY radio talk show host Bob Lonsberry, who was first to break the story after several Rochester Police officers contacted him, RPD Investigator McEntee brought his 3-year old son to the house party at 149 Sherri Lane on Thanksgiving.

Around 2:30 a.m., McEntee’s family members realized the little boy was missing.

McEntee’s family called 911, and within minutes, a calvary of approximately 75 law enforcement and rescue personnel converged on the home, including at least 30 Rochester, NY Police Officers, Monroe County, NY Sheriffs Deputies, New York State Police, and the Rochester, NY Fire Department.

Greece, NY Police Chief Patrick Phelan said RPD Investigator McEntee and his family members were extremely intoxicated and were very uncooperative with officers who were trying to find his son.

Phelan said McEntee and his family members even shouted profanities at Officers.

On his radio show Monday morning, Bob Lonsberry reported that Greece, NY Police Deputy Chief Casey Voekl allowed the drunk investigator to get behind the wheel of his own private vehicle and leave the scene.

That’s right.

Police allowed one of their own, who was drunk, get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle and drive away, putting innocent lives at risk.

But that’s not all.

You’re probably wondering what happened to McEntee’s 3-year old little boy right?

Well, after an extensive search, which Lonsberry said at one point had a New York State Police helicopter on standby, police reviewed surveillance video footage from one of the neighboring homes.

That’s when they saw a shadowy figure walking away and leaving the house party with the little boy.

At first police thought they had a possible kidnapping on their hands.

Investigator McEntee also viewed the surveillance footage with his mother.

According to several RPD officers who spoke with Bob Lonsberry, McEntee asked his mother, “Could that be me?”, referring to the figure seen in the video walking with the little boy

“Yes it could be”, his mother replied.

A Rochester, NY Police official then ordered Officers to go to McEntee’s home at 315 Barclays Court in Greece, NY to search the residence and see if the child was there.

Sure enough, the little boy was sound asleep in his bed, in the house.

All alone.

Turns out, Rochester, NY Police Investigator Jeff McEntee was so drunk that he had absolutely no recollection of having left the party with his son, and driving all the way to his home, more than four miles away, then leaving the child there all alone, and then driving back to the party.

Despite having endangered the welfare of a child, first by driving drunk with the child, which by the way under New York State Penal Law is Felony DWI, and then leaving his 3-year old son home alone for more than two hours, Rochester, NY Police investigator Jeff McEntee hasn't been charged.

And he probably won’t be.

It’s that whole thin blue line thing.

And of course, Greece, NY Police are calling the entire thing a simple misunderstanding.

At least that’s what they were saying initially, before the incident became a clusterfuck public relations nightmare for a department with a long history of corruption which included a former Police Chief, and two officers, one of them a Sergeant, serving prison sentences after a corruption scandal.

According to Lonsberry, some Rochester, NY Police officers who want to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, are furious.

And rightly so.

They are disgusted at the reckless irresponsible actions of one of their own, who put the life of an innocent child in danger.

These officers were asked to stay on well past their shifts had ended.

And they gladly did.

Instead of going home to their own families, they assisted in searching for an innocent little boy.

A little boy whose father was so drunk he forgot what he did with him.
